Ubuntu e, più in generale, i sistemi GNU/Linux dispongono di una enorme varietà di programmi, la maggior parte dei quali è disponibile liberamente e gratuitamente.

Nella prima parte di questa pagina vengono presentati i principali programmi preinstallati in Ubuntu.
Il paragrafo successivo, invece, fornisce una panoramica divisa per categoria dei principali software disponibili per i sistemi operativi desktop più diffusi.
