Ubuntu e più in generale i sistemi GNU/Linux dispongono di una enorme varietà di programmi, la maggior parte dei quali è disponibile liberamente e gratuitamente.

In questa pagina vengono presentati inizialmente i principali programmi preinstallati in Ubuntu. <<BR>>
Il capitolo successivo riassume invece le alternative libere a diffusi programmi proprietari, a prescindere dal sistema operativo sul quale vengono eseguiti.

Vale la pena di notare che moltissimi programmi liberi che funzionano su Linux possono funzionare, previa ricompilazione, su Mac``OSX (che è un sistema Unix, proprio come GNU/Linux) e anche su Windows usando [[http://www.cygwin.com|Cygwin]]. Spesso è possibile trovarli in Internet già ricompilati.

Introduzione

Ubuntu e, più in generale, i sistemi GNU/Linux dispongono di una enorme varietà di programmi, la maggior parte dei quali è disponibile liberamente e gratuitamente.

In questa pagina vengono presentati inizialmente i principali programmi preinstallati in Ubuntu.
Il paragrafo successivo, invece, fornisce una panoramica divisa per categoria dei principali software disponibili per i sistemi operativi desktop più diffusi.

Per facilitare il passaggio a Ubuntu dei nuovi utenti, vengono elencati software sostitutivi, qualora eventuali programmi utilizzati su Windows e Mac OS X non fossero disponibili per Linux, indicando anche le alternative libere a quelle proprietarie.

Per mantenere questa pagina aggiornata tutti gli utenti sono invitati a segnalare nuovi programmi, eventuali link errati, applicazioni non più sviluppate ecc.
