In questa guida sono contenute le istruzioni utili alla gestione delle macchine virtuali.

= Creare una nuova macchina virtuale =

Per creare una nuova macchina virtuale premere il pulsante '''Nuovo''' posto nella barra superiore del programma. <<BR>>

Introduzione

Ubuntu e più in generale i sistemi GNU/Linux dispongono di una enorme varietà di programmi, la maggior parte dei quali è disponibile liberamente e gratuitamente.

Inizialmente vengono presentati i principali programmi preinstallati in Ubuntu.
La tabella successiva riassume invece le alternative libere a diffusi programmi proprietari, a prescindere dal sistema operativo sul quale vengono eseguiti.

Vale la pena di notare che moltissimi programmi liberi che funzionano su Linux possono funzionare, previa ricompilazione, su MacOSX (che è un sistema Unix, proprio come GNU/Linux) e anche su Windows usando Cygwin. Spesso è possibile trovarli in Internet già ricompilati.

Per rendere la pagina di una qualche utilità è necessario il contributo di molte persone, quindi tutti sono invitati a partecipare inserendo collegamenti a nuove applicazioni.

Programmi preinstallati in Ubuntu

Di seguito sono riportate brevi descrizioni dei principali programmi preinstallati in Ubuntu.

Accessibilità

Onboard è una tastiera a schermo.

Orca è uno strumento di tecnologia assistiva flessibile e potente che consente l'accesso ad applicazioni e strumenti attraverso sintesi vocale o braille aggiornabile.

Accessori

Aiuto offre la guida di Ubuntu Desktop in italiano.

Backup permette di effettuare copie di sicurezza dei propri dati in maniera del tutto automatica e regolare.

Calcolatrice con modalità finanziaria e scientifica.

Contatti permette di gestire i contatti forniti da tutte le fonti disponibili (messaggistica istantanea, e-mail e altro).

Dischi è un tool utile per gestire le unità disco e i supporti removibili.

Editor di testo storicamente conosciuto come Gedit, è leggero e supporta diverse funzionalità avanzate, come l'evidenziazione della sintassi del codice sorgente.

File consente di navigare tra i propri file e le proprie cartelle

Gestore di archivi consente di gestire numere tipologie di file complessi come i classici file zip, tar.gz e molti altri.

Schermata permette di catturare lo schermo del pc o di una sua parte e di salvarlo come file immagine.

Terminale è lo strumento ad interfaccia testuale dei sistemi operativi GNU/Linux

Grafica

Shotwell è il programma di gestione e modifica di immagini predefinito di Ubuntu. Permette anche di organizzare la propria raccolta fotografica per data o tag.

Simple Scan consente di utilizzare il proprio scanner e salvare documenti e immagini in differenti formati.

Browser è il navigatore di rete sviluppato da Canonical e utilizzato dalle WebApps come Youtube o Gmail.
Disponibile a partire da Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Condivisione desktop

Firefox è il navigatore di rete predefinito di Ubuntu.

Empathy è un programma di messaggistica istantanea.

Remmina

Thunderbird è il client e-mail predefinito di Ubuntu.

Transmission è un client BitTorrent leggero con un'interfaccia semplice e intuitiva.

Multimedia

Brasero è un'applicazione per la masterizzazione, copia e cancellazione di CD o DVD.

Registratore di suoni preinstallato unicamente in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Rhythmbox permette di gestire e riprodurre la musica presente sul proprio pc o da fonti online.

Video è un riproduttore multimediale audio/video.

Personalizzazione

Creatore dischi di avvio permette di creare le LiveUSB per l'installazione di Ubuntu o di una sua derivata in un altro pc.
