Installazione
Installare il pacchetto xserver-xorg-input-wacom.
Abilitare tasti supplementari
Per abilitare i tasti supplementare e la rotellina è necessario installare il pacchetto wacom-tools.
Configurazione
Configurare il server grafico per Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron

Configurare i tasti
Nel caso di Ubuntu 8.04 l'impostazione dei tasti e il suo conseguente utilizzo può portare al riavvio del server grafico con conseguente perdita di dati. Ciò Dovrebbe essere dovuto ad un bug si sconsiglia pertanto l'utilizzo di questa procedura.
Per configurare i tasti aprire una finestra di terminale e digitare i seguenti comandi:
xsetwacom set pad Button1 "core key a" xsetwacom set pad Button2 "core key b"
I precedenti comandi associano al pulsante 1 la stessa funzione del tasto «a» e al pulsante 2 la stessa funzione funzione del tasto «b».
Le associazioni impostate nell'esempio precedente possono risultare molto utili durante l'utilizzo della tavoletta con Gimp.
Inoltre è possibile associare i pulsanti a delle combinazioni di tasti, ad esempio, se si volesse associare al pulsante 1 la stessa funzione della combinazione Ctrl+Alt+F2, è utile digitare il seguente comando:
xsetwacom set pad Button1 "core key ctrl alt F2"
Configurare la rotellina
Se si desidera utilizzare la rotellina come strumento per lo zoom all'interno di Gimp è utile digitare i seguenti comandi:
xsetwacom set pad RelWUp "key core +" xsetwacom set pad RelWDn "key core -"
Se invece si desidera configurare la rotellina per lo scorrimento delle pagine è utile digitare i seguenti comandi:
xsetwacom set pad RelWUp "key core pgup" xsetwacom set pad RelWDn "key core pgdn"
Tali comandi devono essere digitati ad ogni riavvio del sistema.
