Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Server per l'architettura SUN Sparc 64 è disponibile da questa settimana. Sviluppi giornalieri del Kernel per ''''Edgy'''
Ben Collins,straordinario collaudatore del kernel di Ubuntu, ha iniziato la preparazione di programmi giornalieri automatici del kernel di edgy (basato su 2.6.17). Questi aggiornamenti giornalieri sono mirati all'ottenimento di performances migliori dalla serie di test in ambiente IBM ABAT (una serie di test effettuati su kernel Linux usando il programma Automated Basic Acceptance Test, che consentono agli utenti d'individuare i punti di regresso dello sviluppo di Edgy. E' chiaro che maggiore è la quantità dei test effettuati, maggiore sarà la stabilità del kernel che ne deriva.
Ben Collins dichiara :<<No, questi non sono setup per APT, nè lo saranno mai. La ragione risiede nel fatto che desidero che la gente esegua dei test sul kernel, non mi basta la mera installazione get/install/forget come si usa per un normale kernel. I kernels vanno testati, vanno stanate le falle, non vanno utilizzati secondo il normale ciclo di lavorazione e d'installazione.

Le quattro frecce (alto, basso, sinistra, destra), lambiscono i bordi dello schermo che contengono l'immagine.
Nel caso in cui l'immagine non sia visibile sullo schermo, è possibile catturarne la specificità con una macchina fotografica, inviandola ai programmatori come un collegamento alla posta.
Se non si è in grado di scattare un'immagine, si può tentare di descrivere cosa si vede sullo schermo, descrivendo i particolari connessi alla test card."

This week Ubuntu 6.06 LTS has received a fairly significant update in the form of GNOME 2.14.2. GNOME 2.14.2 brings with it a variety of bug fixes, improvements and translation updates. Many of you may have already received this update during the week. If not, go ahead and update your machine now, its a tasty update.

Feature Of The Week - Devhelp
If you are a developer you may often times find yourself scouring the Internet looking for various API references and other technical information you may require while building your software. Sometimes this is the only way to find what you need but for many GNOME applications and libraries you can often find the information your are looking for is readily available via a neat little app called Devhelp. Devhelp consolidates various developer focused documentation into one convenient location so you always know where to find it. To install Devhelp simply install the package named devhelp. Once installed Devhelp is available at Applications -> Programming -> Devhelp. In addition to the documentation available via Devhelp by default you can install more documentation and even register your own apps documentation for use in Devhelp. Give it a try, it is nice to have all of the information you need in one easy to use location whether you are online or off.
