Introduzione

Il gruppo di lavoro del "Test Portatili" è aperto a chiunque voglia fornire informazioni importanti sull'hardware del proprio portatile. La missione del progetto è di far girare bene Ubuntu sul maggior numero possibile di marche e modelli differenti di portatili. Per fare questo, è necessario sapere quali componenti hardware funzionano perfettamente con il CD di installazione e quali necessitano di configurazione o sono mal supportati.

Come contribuire

If you are a community member and wish to help us test, go to LaptopTesting to get started. Please read and add useful Gotchas/FAQs that will help other people or which caught you out to the /FAQ. If you feel silly about writing an entry---remember that you will feel less silly if you do (plus, you'll help other people from feeling silly as well!)

Please note

If you share a laptop model with anyone, please coordinate with them to provide a single report, unless it has different specifications.
If you are trying to search through the below laptop pages for specific criteria (for example, if you want to confirm how widely a certain feature is supported, or if you're looking for a laptop that does X), you may be able to make use of the following python script that scrapes data from these pages and dumps it into a database: LaptopTestingDataScraper

Projects

Currently testing Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy: LTS), 8.10 (Intrepid), 9.04 (Jaunty: current stable). Mark with the words "Hardy", "Intrepid" or/and "Jaunty Alpha" in the release tested column.
Fill in Contact column with a wiki page and put some contact details on that page

Come creare un resoconto di test per un portatile

Effettuare test su un portatile non è così difficile, basta solo un portatile e un po' di tempo per effettuare i test stessi. Di seguito sono riportati i passi da seguire:

Installare o eseguire un live CD dell'attuale milestone della versione di sviluppo di Ubuntu ( http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ ).
Controllare su LaptopTestingTeam se esiste già un resoconto del proprio portatile. Se esiste, fare clic sul link edit in alto a sinistra e aggiungere il proprio NomeWiki alla pagina di test, Verificare quindi se c'è qualcosa di diverso rispetto al proprio test e, in tal caso, aggiornare di conseguenza il resoconto esistente*. Altrimenti...
Creare una nuova pagina per i propri risultati. Se si possiede un Toshiba Tecra M2, la nuova pagina dovrà essere chiamata https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/ToshibaTecraM2 e può essere creata digitando l'indirizzo nel proprio browser seguendo poi i vari passaggi. Scegliere il LaptopTestingTeamTemplate.
Aggiungere una voce alla tabella in LaptopTestingTeam oppure nella sottopagina del proprio produttore. L'annata dovrebbe dare un'idea di massima riguardo alla data di acquisto del portatile. L'anno da solo è sufficiente. Se non avete ancore creato una pagina del tipo NomeCognome è l'occasione giusta per farlo, usando il template predefinito Homepage. Assicurarsi di aver inserito i dati necessari per poter essere contattati (es. indirizzo email valido).
Adesso è tutto pronto per compilare il resoconto. Se c'è bisogno di aiuto, leggere tutte le informazioni sottostanti e consultare LaptopTestingTeam/FAQ. Non aprire bug su http://launchpad.net, non è ancora il momento.
Compilare il resoconto aggiungendo una nuova colonna con tutte le informazioni. Se vengono riscontrati problemi, aprire un bug seguendo i suggerimenti per il debug in LaptopTestingTeam/FAQ e ricordarsi di menzionare se il problema NON era presente nella versione stabile.
Quando esce una nuova milestone della versione in sviluppo, installarla (o usare il live CD) e aggiungere una nuova colonna con le informazioni aggiornate. Aprire nuovi bug per eventuali nuovi problemi e ricordarsi di chiudere tutti i bug aperti precedentemente che ora risultano risolti.

Ricordarsi che LaptopTestingTeam/FAQ è di aiuto per tutti i problemi e le domande comuni. Aggiungere qualsiasi cosa possa essere di aiuto ad altri nel riportare bug.

Dopo aver effettuato tutto, sedersi e prendere una pausa. Grazie per il contributo dato per far funzionare Ubuntu nel proprio portatile.
