Se si possiede un Toshiba Tecra M2, la nuova pagina dovrà essere chiamata https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/ToshibaTecraM2 e può essere creata digitando l'indirizzo nel proprio browser seguendo poi i vari passaggi. La missione del progetto è di far girare bene Ubuntu sul maggior numero possibile di marche e modelli differenti di portatili. Per fare questo, è necessario sapere quali componenti hardware funzionano perfettamente con il CD di installazione e quali necessitano di configurazione o sono mal supportati.
Come partecipare
Per partecipare alle attività del Gruppo Test occorre svolgere prima i seguenti passi:
Registrarsi su [https://launchpad.net/+login Launchpad] e compilare il proprio profilo con le informazioni richieste; se si desidera rimanere anonimi é possibile usare anche uno pseudonimo, ma è buona norma assicurasi di utilizzare sempre lo stesso anche sul wiki e nelle risposte inviate alla lista.
Creare la pagina personale sul wiki internazionale (GuidaWiki) con lo stile NomeCognome usando il modello Homepage esistente. (es: la pagina personale di Sergio Zanchetta verrà resa pubblica come https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SergioZanchetta senza spazi o altri caratteri tra il nome e il cognome). Anche qui è possibile usare anche uno pseudonimo, ma bisogna assicurarsi che sia lo stesso del punto precedente. Compilare la propria pagina wiki con una breve introduzione personale, un indirizzo email valido, il collegamento al proprio profilo su Launchpad e altre informazioni utili per poter essere contattati in caso di bisogno.

Come contribuire
Per poter partecipare ai test sui portatili non occorre essere sviluppatori e non necessita di particolari conoscenze informatiche. I test sono veramente molto semplici da effettuare e ricordatevi che altre persone possono trarre beneficio dal vostro lavoro.
Nota bene
- Se si possiede lo stesso modello di portatile di un'altra persona è necessario coordinarsi nei test in modo da ottenere un unico rapporto finale per ogni milestone, a meno che i portatili stessi non abbiano specifiche diverse.
Per fare questo seguire la ML e consultare la sezione relativa ai partecipanti e la pagina dei resoconti sui portatili sul [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Laptop/Reports wiki internazionale].
Come creare un resoconto per un portatile
I passi da seguire sono:
Installare o eseguire un live CD dell'attuale rilascio programmato (milestone) della versione di sviluppo di Ubuntu ( http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ ).
Controllare [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Laptop/Reports qui] se esiste già un resoconto del proprio portatile. Se esiste, modificare la pagina aggiungendo il proprio NomeWiki a quello già esistente usando la macro @SIG@.
Scegliere dalla [http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/GruppoTest/TestPortatili/ pagina dei test] quali effettuare, segnarsi il relativo Case ID e la sua descrizione (in inglese) e procedere con l'esecuzione dei test.
- Verificare se a parità di test (Case ID) c'è qualcosa di diverso rispetto ai propri e, in tal caso, coordinarsi con l'altra persona attraverso la ML prima di aggiornare il resoconto esistente*. Nel caso si possieda un sottomodello diverso da quello presente nel resoconto oppure un portatile non ancora testato...

Se vengono riscontrati problemi in un test, aprire un bug su Launchpad e ricordarsi di menzionare se il problema NON era presente nella versione stabile.
